Sold: Silk Family Tree

The Genealogical Tree of the Fisher Family / stone lithograph on silk / 1890

Description

At over three and a half feet tall, this rare color lithograph of the Fisher family tree is printed on luminous silk. The piece has slipped slightly in its frame, rippling the fabric branches under the glass, as if the tree were a reflection of itself in the sheen of silken water. (It can easily be remounted, but I will leave that decision to the purchaser.)

The bottom lefthand corner is inscribed:

To Col. Jas. A. Fisher,
This Geneological Tree of the Fisher Family is affectionately dedicated by his daughter Mattie L. Fisher, Designer and Compiler, May 23, 1890, Danville, KY.

Printed by Compton & Sons Co. of St. Louis.

Part of the “Gate of Memories: Things Forgotten” collection.
