Sepia Forest

Antique large format photograph of a forest scene, platinum print, c. 1920s. With the late afternoon rays of sunlight piercing the canopy of branches and the profiled trunks of trees foretelling sunset, the photo conveys a palpable stillness felt in the moment of its taking and now for also for the viewer. Unknown photographer, but clearly an artist of talent whose name might be revealed if the image was removed from its original frame.

Some scratches to frame, paper backing on the frame gone, otherwise very good condition.
