Scissor Ember Tongs

Description

Extending two feet long, these satisfying early ember tongs date from the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century. The tongs were used to extract smoldering embers from the fireplace to light candles, pipes, or kindle new fires. They may be repurposed today to steal bites off of a dinner companion’s plate.

Condition

Very good with antique patina.
