Description
An early blacksmith-made iron carpenter’s square, c. late eighteenth or early nineteenth century. The earliest square of its kind I’ve seen, the iron tool was likely hand-forged by its user, with hand-hammered measure markings and numerals. A sculptural (and useful) object.
Condition
Timeworn with handsome patina.
