Victorian croquet posts / polychrome wood / c. 1880s

Exceptional antique turned and painted wooden croquet stakes of a tall statue, c. late 19th century. The colorful posts were driven into the ground to map the ends of a croquet course. Wonderful sculptural form with aged polychrome surface.

Condition

Handsome aged patina with paint loss and evidence of many a game on the lawn.
