Sold: Vuitton Trunk Compartment

Sculptural antique Louis Vuitton orphan trunk compartment, c. late 19th century. The wood frame and canvas box originally nesting within a large leather-bound steamer trunk. Each of the woven canvas ribbons are inscribed “Louis Vuitton.” Several are repaired with painstaking stitches. In its displaced and forlorn state, well-traveled piece is a curious sculptural object, and looks beautiful mounted to a wall or used a niche to display another object.

Condition

Well-traveled antique condition with beautiful aged patina. Several of the canvas strips have been repaired and show discoloration. See photos.
