Description

This small Tramp Art frame punches above its weight. Unusual sculptural form with stepped ziggurat-style construction from repurposed wood, c. first quarter twentieth century. Tramp Art developed as a vernacular art form using found material, especially wooden cigar boxes. As in this example, the anonymous creations often take on hyper-modern forms beyond the design parameters of their own time.

Condition

Very good condition with aged patina. Includes glass and wooden back.
