Polishing pad for silk top hats / silk & velvet / c. 1880s

Antique advertising velvet and silk hand-sized pillow designed to brush and polish silk top hats, c. late 19th century. This rare accessory would have been complementary with the purchase of a silk hat from a haberdashery. Great embossed advertising in silver script for Young’s Hats — “None Better Made” — in New York. Velvet side used to brush silk to a lustrous shine.
