Sold: Tin Toy Alligator

Antique tin toy mechanical key-wound alligator, probably German, c. 1920. The fellow lumbers along in the most convincing way when wound up, his tail and head moving to and fro, his jaws opening and closing (click here to see him in action). Excellent condition for age, with original paint and mechanical action in good working order (though he requires a key – I tested by winding with another tool). Unmarked, but likely of German manufacture. A delightful and rare vintage tin mechanical toy and worthy addition to your tin menagerie.

Excellent condition for age, with a few tiny scratches and spots of paint loss. Mechanism working well though requires a key.
