Patent padlock with key / iron & brass / c. late 19th century

Antique Victorian padlock with key, c. 1870s. Striking design, with brass starburst escutcheon. Designed to be pick proof, the unusual double-turn key mechanism prevents access to the lock’s interior. Inserting the unusually shaped key, you turn until the key falls into the second interior keyhole, continuing until the lock opens. Sculptural form. Good working order.

Timeworn patina. Works well.
