Folk art cane with hand-carved snakes and hand / pine / c. 1900

Exceptional antique folk art cane with snake-encircled shart and handle in the form of a hand clutching a ball, c. late nineteenth or early twentieth century. Unlike many folk art canes which were ornamental, this example was used frequently by its owner and is hauntingly timeworn.

Condition

Well-used antique condition with a handsomely aged patina and wear to paint and varnish.
