Description

Antique mother of pearl, abalone, and sea snail spectacle cases, c. mid- and late nineteenth century. Sold individually. These exquisite eyeglass cases were designed for evening wear, to be carried by men and women. Each is unique and glimmers in the light.

The cases are wooden and covered with a veneer of mother of pearl, abalone, and sea snail in a variety of patterns. Each is in very good condition considering age, with a couple missing a small plate or two of veneer. All are rare survivors given their fragility.

Recently acquired from an important private collection of antique eyewear.

Sold individually. At checkout, please indicate which case you would like to purchase by its corresponding letter.
