Sold: Pabst Boxer
Vintage painted cast metal Victorian boxer figure, originally part of a 1950s Pabst Blue Ribbon advertising countertop display. The boxer is over a foot tall and originally was screwed to a base, though stands upright on his own. The soles of his feet have screw holes for easy mounting—I like the idea of him attached to a bar. With his parted hair, stache, and striped trou, the figure captures the quirky depiction of the 1890s favored in the 1950s. The boxer is freestanding, though could benefit from a simple base for stability (with that serene smile, perhaps he’s indulged in a little too much Pabst himself).
Condition
Very good condition, with minor paint loss and a couple of small spots of flaking (see photos, could easily be stabilized).
