Antique folk art oil on canvas painting of a moonlight-drenched beach, c. late 19th century. The evocative seaside nighttime scene was painted by an amateur hand, and the naïveté of the piece somehow heightens its drama and surreal qualities. An attic find, the painting maintains its timeworn state, which adds to its moody atmosphere and sets it apart as not only a work of art, but an artful old object with a life of its own.

Good antique, unrestored condition. Some discolorations to canvas. Would brighten with a cleaning should the buyer wish, but we think it’s perfect in its imperfect state as found. Unframed.
