Milliner’s head form / carved wood / c. 1900

Antique sculptural carved wooden millinery head form used in the hat making process for pinning and shaping material, c. early 20th century. Exceptionally sculptural form, with beautiful wear to surface from many years of use and facet-like cuts which give the form a subtle, angular aesthetic, recalling Cubist paintings from the same period. Place the piece back into service for its intended purpose or display as an evocative found object (and maybe a resting place for your own hat, too).
