Sold: Look Sign
Antique Folk Art carved wood and plaster sign reading “Look Then Tell a Friend” c. 1910s. About fifteen inches long, the figural sign would likely have been used in a shop window or on top of a display cabinet. Painted gold and black, with applied sand or ground glass to make it sparkle and catch the eye. The shape of the “oo” recalls the outline of eyeglasses, making me think this could have originated in an optician’s office. Good overall condition, with several chips having been repainted with an attempt to match the original color. A one of a kind antique handmade sign and a whimsical piece of American Folk Art vintage advertising. Found in New Hampshire.
