Sold: Food for Invalids & Children
Mmm, delicious: Shipping crate for “Imperial Granum Food for Invalids and Children,” c. 1880s. Remarkably well preserved, the box was apparently wrapped in fabric for a century, which kept its original paint and stenciling in excellent condition. The box seems to have been passed down to a child or someone particularly jealous of his possessions, and this “A. P. Cook” has penciled “My Box” on every side. A useful and sturdy wooden box for storage or a coffee table, and great advertising for an absurd Victorian foodstuff.
