Description
Folk art frame hand-carved from a single board, with decoration of scrolls, hearts, and clubs apparently carved in relief, with a lovely untouched surface with attic finish. The frame’s dual openings are arched and carved through the one-inch board with a tapering cove. The reverse reveals rough sketches of alternative ornaments of an anchor and cross. Without an inset rabbet, the original framed images appear to have been pinned in place without glass. Now vacant, the frame holds its own as a great piece of American folk art.
