Description

Rubber fireman’s axe trade stimulator advertising the American Rubber Manufacturing Company of Oakland, CA and promoting its “Crackerjack Fire Hose.” Likely dating to the 1920s or ’30s, the rubber axe was probably given to fire departments to sharpen enthusiasm for the company’s crackerjack of a product. An unusual advertising object targeting firefighters (though not much use in fighting those fires).

Condition

Very good condition considering the fragile material with minor wear.
