Description

Lifesize dissect-able model of a human eye from the collection of an ophthalmologist, c. mid-twentieth century. Apparently handmade, the piece is extremely detailed with hand-painted features including the iris, blood vessels, and ciliary body. The model is designed to come apart in layers to reveal the interior components of the eye, down to a glass orb representing the vitreous humor and lens. An extraordinary medical model and likely one of a kind.

 

Condition

Very good condition. Possible minor losses to the exterior muscles at the back of the eye.
