Sold: Early Iron Rack

Antique hand-forged folk art serpentine iron rack, probably to hold kitchen utensils or tools in a workshop, probably New England, c. 1800. The rack is one continuous band of iron hammered into a squiggle and each side bent and sharpened to a point to nail into a wall. Imaginative and quirky Seussian form. Blacksmith-made, the piece could date from the 18th century. Display as artful metalwork or set to its original purpose as functional wall hardware. Found in Massachusetts.
