Sold: Curtain Hands

Curtain hardware hands / nickel-plated brass / c. 1870s

Patented in 1878, this inventive pair of curtain tiebacks in the form of hands screw into a window frame and are designed to control the line adjusting the position of the curtains via an enclosed miniature pulley, which is extended or retracted by spinning the cuff ruffle. Although the curtain is apparently held by the shiny, disembodied hands, they are designed to never have contact with the cord.
