Sold: Burning Stars

Scanlan & Co. pair of fireback panels with star motifs / cast iron / dated 1888

These antique Victorian cast iron panels would have been inset into either side of a fireplace interior to absorb the heat from a burning wood or coal. The identical heavy iron panels each have a central raised star surrounded with tendrils of flame cast in high relief. Liberated from the hearth, hang the artful salvaged panels on an interior or exterior wall.
