Sold: Bronze Monkey
Antique folk art bronze monkey, c. 1900. Just four inches tall, the monkey may of been made as a toy, though he has holes in his hands indicating he perhaps held a pole (perhaps a flag?) or maybe even hung onto a cord (an inventive curtain pull?). Regardless of his original purpose, he is a beautiful and whimsical piece of bronze sculpture, from his quizzical face to his twisty tail. He stands precariously as pictured, but could also be displayed on a shelf edge or even hanging from a line. Acquired from the estate of a prominent Americana and folk art collector.
