Book in Hand Carving

Description

Curious and charming miniature carving of a hand holding a book, c. mid-nineteenth century. With a hole through the base, the piece appears to have been strung, perhaps as a necklace pendant or part of a fabric bookmark. Custom stand fashioned from antique turned bone.
