Description
Antique cast iron figural doorstop in the form of Bacchus, c. mid-nineteenth century. Bacchus, the Roman god of agriculture, wine, and fertility, is represented here wearing a cornucopia as a hat with locks of grapes and vines for hair. This scarce casting has a rich, aged patina with traces of its original paint.
