Antique folk art carving of a card game gone afoul, c. 1900. One player has caught the other cheating at poker, and things are about to head south. In top hat and bowler respectively, the characters are rendered with detail and humor, and one gets a sense of the salty language exchanged over the heated card game. The scene is carved in relief, the wood apparently oak. Original paint with great color. The initials “CS” are inscribed into the back of the carving. A fun folk art carving for the game room to ward off poker or blackjack players with a card or two up their sleeve.
Very good antique condition with minor paint loss.
