Dear Friend of Old as Adam,
—–
Happy Father’s Day from Old as Adam! It’s not too late to find that perfect present for Dad. From the classic (a vintage necktie, 1920s-’60s) to the unconventional (perhaps antique bronze diving boots?) the Portsmouth store is stocked with many new finds, all gathered during my travels around New England.
—–
New acquisitions include a pair of folk art 1920s doll beachgoers, a 1940s “Port O’ Boston” nautical sign, an unusual antique violin with lion’s head scroll, a folk art carved granite clock (inscribed “Time! Whither Art Thou Flying!”), a handsome early 2oth century japanned barber’s hat rack, a 1920s tin toy horse racing game, an 1890s Carl Zeiss microscope complete in original mahogany case, an impressive tall 1930s “War Canoe” trophy, a large late 19th century antique anatomical chart, several exceptional antique nautical ship’s lanterns, bronze diving boots, a French wire birdcage, a 19th century bone chess set, many books, vintage 1920s-30s restored portable typewriters, hundreds of iron letters from a sign factory, and much more.
In the Menswear Department, new finds include 1920s-’30s linen suits, 1950s-’60s leather jackets, 1960s shirts in nautical pictorials, several vintage 1930s-40s athletic sweaters, exceptional 1920s-’30s ties, straw boaters and panamas, a variety of cuff links and tie bars, a fun vintage polo equipment bag, UNH and MIT gold bullion blazer patches, and much more. And the new old stock from the 1920s Chicago men’s jewelry store just keeps coming: cuff links, watch fobs, pocketwatches, belt buckles – I don’t have space to display it all!
I’m out hunting down the goods just about every day and therefore you’ll always find something new at the shop. If you can’t make it during regular store hours on the weekends, feel free to email or call to schedule a visit.

Looking for something in particular? Click here to send me a note and I’ll be on the lookout.
I remain, your loyal antiquarian haberdasher,
Adam
